Sideboards and buffets are essential furniture pieces in any dining area. both of them share similarities and usage, you can always find them everywhere whether they are custom made or in antiques shops. Sideboards were originally found at the end of the 18th century in England and moved to America later on till 1939 it became a famous part of the dining rooms everywhere.

Both items are made mostly out of wood and their main function is to store or display or serve food but buffets differ in the fact that it has a glass top which helps showcase the items stored in it.

Before buying any of them ,think of their usage and purpose .consider also the size of your room and which one of them would complements your design more. You can decorate the buffet or sideboard with a few accessories that will help change the look completely. how about a large framed picture of your favorite painting or maybe a large mirror to catch your visitor’s eyes.

if you are not a fan of large pictures you can use smaller framed ones to create unity in the space. using a vase or a lamp which you can also buy from an antique store will differ a lot. make sure you balance items of different heights to draw attention to the beautiful sideboard. using your silverware also can add to its elegance or how about going completely artistic and use a sculpture!.

Try to avoid the clutter and mess of storage in long sideboards because it takes away from its beauty. Leave 3 feet space between it and other furniture in the room to create a space for people to pass through.
